Being a teenager is kind of cool

Okay, now this track needs to be put on repeat and played ten times in a row. It's that addictive. During the second listen you realise you are singing the chorus out loud. Just make sure there aren't any sensitive people around. Because the lyrics are dirty. Sorry.

The Teenagers - Homecoming (zshare)

New York is kind of cool

"I've just had the craziest week
Like a party bag of lies, booze and then deceit
And I don't know why I want to voice this out loud
It's therapeutic somehow

So I'm moving to New York

'Cos I've got problems with my sleep
And we're not the same and I will wear that on my sleeve
So I'm moving to New York
'Cos I've got issues with my sleep
Looks like Christmas came early
Christmas came early for me

I put one foot forward and ended up 30 yards back
Am I loosing touch or am I just completely off the track
And I don't know why I want to voice this out loud
It's therapeutic somehow

So I'm moving to New York
'Cos I've got problems with my sleep
And we're not the same and I will wear that on my sleeve
So I'm moving to New York
'Cos I've got issues with my sleep
Looks like Christmas came early
Christmas came early for me"

Nothing special this time, just the coolest track:

Who doesn't like ice cream?

Sometimes I wonder how random it is to find out about a good artist. It kind of makes me sad that there are thousands and thousands of great tracks out there, but I'm never going to hear.

Well anyway, here's one of the tracks you are lucky to have found. Now his name is Muscles, he comes from Melbourne, and someone said his music sounds like Hot Chip meets TV On The Radio (I'm still trying to remember which blog introduced me to him).

That's all you need to know. And yeah, this is a beautiful track, and it just gets better and better as I listen to it.

Cowboys don't dance

Okay, today was the first day of school after winter break. My lessons should have started at 12, but I was feeling really sleepy so I decided to go to school an hour later. I missed a bus and I knew I would be late, so I really thought about not going at all because I only had two lessions of history. My bus comes every 20 minutes so I just sat to the bench, listening to Midlake in the rather wintery weather of Helsinki (-8 celcius). After 15 minutes of contemplating my life, I started thinking about going back home. But then I thought it'd be a pretty meaningless day if I would do that. Wake up, shower, music, eat breakfast, go to bus stop for 15 minutes, go back home. So I decided to go to school, which was actually pretty great cause I love history and I was in lessions for only 80 minutes.

Anyway, what I realised at the bus stop bench is that I love Midlake. The Trials Of Van Occupanther is probably one of my top 5 albums of 2006. It's a rare glimpse of light in this single infested world. Okay, Roscoe is also a superb single, but the most of the tracks on the album work better as album tracks.

Review: Klaxons - Myths Of The Near Future

By now, everyone, including your mother, has heard of Klaxons (not The Klaxons as I've seen some people type). Klaxons are actually three geeky looking guys (like all the coolest rock stars these days) and they come from London. Thanks to these lads we also have a subculture called "New Rave" these days. I even saw an article in a mainstream fashion magazine about this a few days ago, that's how bad it's gotten. Okay, now this post is not about new rave as a phenomenom (an excellent post about it here) but about Klaxons' new album which actually is a good debut, no matter how much I would like to hate it.

Now Atlantis To Interzone and Gravity's Raindow (it came out on Kitsune originally!) were really huge indie hits, and that's how they got a record deal with Polydor. On Polydor these guys have released two singles, Magick (UK 26#), and Golden Skans (UK 7#, their most commercial sounding single thusfar, in my opinion at least).

Anyway, to some peoples' disappointment, and some peoples' joy, I must say that underneath all the colourful clothing and extra NME hype lies a surprisingly ordinary rock album. Golden Skans could become a huge mainstream hit in 2007, and As Above, So Below is so conservative it could be from the up-coming Kaiser Chiefs album. Not to mention Totem On The Timline, that is so straightforward it could be Arctic Monkey's new single.

Overall, Myths Of The Near Future is a nicely balanced consistent record with a very few weak moments. The ending track Four Horsemen Of 2012 is something that I would have preferred as an internet bonus track or something though. The surprising thing is that despite their singles they have saved their finest moment to the album. The song I'm talking about is actually a cover of Paul Oakenfold's Grace's It's Not Over Yet.

Take a listen to it here guys. It's one of my favourite tracks of 2007 so far.
Klaxons - It's Not Over Yet (zshare, 192kb/s)

Now here's my favourite take on the remixed to death single, Golden Skans:
Klaxons - Golden Skans (SebastiAn 1.2.0 Version) (zshare, 160kb/s) (I really heart SebastiAn right now)
